Open Letter for Climate Action

BeyondHFCs Open Letter advocates a ban on greenhouses gases to help addressing global warming and keep the earth’s temperature below the critical threshold of the 2°C increase.

The Open Letter below voices this need to the attention of environment ministers worldwide who will negotiate the post-Kyoto agreement in November 2010 in Mexico city, Mexico.

The BeyondHFCs Open Letter is a step towards a greater consideration of the climate stakes that humanity is facing by world leaders and a clear indication about the means to address those.

Thank you for supporting us by filling in and submitting the Open Letter to environment ministers worldwide that you can find below:

Open Letter for Climate Action

Dear Participant to the COP16, Dear Representative of National Governments,

In November 2010, you will seal the follow-up agreement to the Kyoto Protocol to address greenhouse gases emissions and mitigate the adverse effects of global warming on human health and the environment.

While alarming scientific reports on climate change are being published everyday, the entire world is counting on the Mexico signatories to adopt ambitious binding targets in an effort to contain and reduce greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.

Recent scientific reports have also shown that Fluorinated Gases, F Gases, could account for as much as 45% CO2 equivalent emissions by 2050 in a business-as-usual model.

Climate change is a man-made problem and should thus be solved by man.

The post-Kyoto agreement to be agreed in Mexico should not be "just an update". It must take stock of the climate emergency humanity is facing and put in place all adequate measures to address it.

Adopting decisions to limit the production and consumption of greenhouse gases rapidly worldwide is the solution.

I, as a citizen, am hence voicing support for a worldwide F Gas phase out by 2020 to tackle what have become a major polluter: F- Gases.

I trust that you will give this matter the necessary consideration,

Yours sincerely,
